Install Henry

Connecting Teams takes two steps, both done by an admin.

Install the Henry app in Teams

Add the Henry app to your tenant through the Teams admin center or your organization’s app catalog. Henry appears in personal chats, group chats, and team channels.

Connect it to your Henry workspace

In the web app, go to Settings → Team settings → Chat platforms and click Connect on the Microsoft Teams tile. Approve the Microsoft admin consent prompt, sign in with Microsoft, and you return to the dashboard with the tile showing Connected.
The Teams app requests one resource-specific permission, ChannelMessage.Read.Group, so Henry can follow replies in threads it owns and learn from channels it has been added to. It requests no tenant-wide Microsoft Graph permissions. See Permissions Henry requests. Each person should link their Microsoft account once so Henry knows who they are in Teams. Go to Settings → Profile → Microsoft Teams account and follow the link. Approvals, memory, and authorship then stay yours across every channel. Until you link, Henry treats your Teams messages as coming from the person who installed it, and it refuses privileged actions on your behalf.

Talk to Henry

  • Mention @Henry AI in a channel to ask a question. Henry replies in the thread.
  • Chat with Henry directly for private conversations.
  • Group chats work too.
When Henry is added to a channel, it posts a welcome card with getting-started tips.
Private and shared channels. Microsoft does not deliver untagged messages in private channels to any bot. In a private channel, every message to Henry must mention it, including replies in a thread Henry started. Henry learns from standard channels only.

Approvals in Teams

Henry posts an Adaptive Card with Confirm, Confirm all, and Cancel. Tap Confirm and Henry continues the work. See Approvals.

Differences from Slack

Teams limits what bots can do, so a few things behave differently:
  • Henry cannot @mention people, add reactions, or upload files in Teams.
  • Markdown tables and headings do not render in Teams messages, so Henry formats replies as lists instead.
  • Images you send Henry are read; other file types are not.

Both Slack and Teams

A workspace can connect both platforms. When both are connected, admins see a Default surface picker in Settings → Team settings. It decides where workspace-level reports and reminders go when they are not tied to a specific conversation or person. A workspace connects at most one Slack workspace and one Teams tenant.

Disconnect

Open the menu on the Teams tile in Settings → Team settings → Chat platforms and choose Disconnect. To remove Henry from your tenant entirely, delete the Henry enterprise application in Microsoft Entra ID.
