Texting (iMessage and SMS)

Link your phone number and text Henry like a person. Approve actions with YES, pause with STOP.

Texting is personal. You link your own number, and your conversation with Henry is yours alone. Henry becomes a contact in your Messages app, over iMessage where available and SMS otherwise.

Texting works with US phone numbers today.

Link your number

Open Channels and click Connect on the Messages card, or go to Settings → Texting.

1. Add your number

   Enter your phone number and click Continue. By continuing you agree to receive texts from Henry at this number, including replies, task updates, and reminders. Texting is optional and never required to use Henry. Message and data rates may apply.

2. Send Henry one text

   Henry drafts the first message for you. Click Open Messages, hit send, and Henry replies right there. The page shows Waiting for your text until it arrives.

   Prefer a code? Choose Text me a code instead and enter the 6-digit code Henry sends you.

3. Save the contact

   Once linked, the page shows your Henry number. Save it as a contact. If you text Henry from more than one workspace, name each contact after its workspace so you always know which one you are texting.

Verification links expire after 10 minutes. If the window closes, click Start over and send the text right away.

Texting Henry

Text anything you would say in Slack. Henry remembers the whole conversation, so you can follow up without repeating yourself.

• Approvals. When Henry needs your go-ahead, it texts you what it is about to do. Reply YES to approve or CANCEL to drop it.
• Photos, PDFs, and voice messages. Send a photo and Henry reads it. Send a PDF and Henry reads the document. Send a voice message and Henry transcribes it. Limits: 4 MB per photo, 8 MB per PDF, 24 MB per voice message, one attachment per message.
• Proactive texts. Henry can text you first with task results, reminders, and scheduled check-ins. Control this with the Proactive texts switch in Settings → Texting. Off means Henry only ever replies.

Pause and resume

STOP (also STOP ALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT)	Henry sends one confirmation and then goes silent until you resume.
START	Resumes the conversation.

CANCEL is not a stop word. It cancels a pending approval.

More than one workspace

You can link the same phone to several Henry workspaces, such as your company’s Henry and your personal Henry. Each workspace texts you from a different Henry number, so each is its own thread in Messages. A pairing is permanent once made.

Unlink

In Settings → Texting, click Unlink. Henry stops texting that number immediately.

Quiet hours for personal Henry

Personal workspaces honor quiet hours for reminders Henry initiates. The default window is 9 PM to 8 AM in your local time. Set them conversationally: “don’t text me after 10pm” or “I moved to Chicago”. Reminders you asked for at a specific time still fire at that time. See Reminders and profiles.
